Hades LDLWeekend – First Look

Hey everyone, this is an update post to show a few new personal projects and design challenges I have been participating in. I have been doing my best to find new ways I can increase my skill level while still focusing on games and narrowing my skill set. This post heavily focuses on the Level Design Lobby and its Weekend challenges. The Level Design Lobby is a community created by Max Pears to increase the knowledge of level and game design. He is a skilled AAA-level designer who has worked on many past projects such as Cyberpunk and The Division. If you want to know more about Max or how to become a member of the Level Design Lobby community links will be provided below.

Working on the Level Design weekend Challenge or LDL challenge I learned a few new skills that I want to highlight below. I want to continue doing this for future posts and project updates. I believe this will be a good method and way of tracking my own progress, plus providing a useful tool for others. Overall, I’m very excited to start providing progress and updates on my current and future projects.

New tools learned on this project:

1. Better methods for using 3rd person orthographic cameras and camera movement tracking.

2. How to use a dolly cam with Cinemachine to setup track and 360 animations.

Bathhouse

This is a Safe room also known as a bathhouse level in hades. I this level for the Level Design Lobby Weekend Challenge in February 2021. This is still only my first pass and I will be looking to make a few more updates and changes.

Boss Level

This is a boss level I created for the Level Design Lobby Weekend Challenge in February 2021. The character and camera controller is fully working and tracks the players movements. This is still only my first pass and I will be looking to make a few more updates and changes.
